Quit the Grind

Deep down at that very moment, I knew that I wasn’t in the right place. I knew I wasn’t honouring myself. I knew there had to be more to life than this. I knew I wasn’t myself. I knew I’d lost my way and I’d stopped listening to what my heart and soul yearned for. But I was afraid, I was so afraid of the unknown. I had become so conditioned to believe in what I should be doing that I kept pretending.


I kept clinging to a misguided hope that somehow it would get better. Things would surely feel better…eventually, right?


Wrong. But for 3 more years, I pretended. Things never got better they got worse.

After countless conversations in my own head. After dreaming of change, after pushing myself to my edge and almost slipping off, I eventually found the courage to have a conversation with a mentor of mine. And that was the turning point for me; “What is the end goal you want for you self, Nikki? Make all your decisions based on working towards that, nothing else matters.”


Things started to change from there. I slowly started to listen to the whispers of my true calling. To lean into my heart’s desires and feed my soul. I started to surround myself with like-minded people who nourished me. I started to slow down. I started to practice mindfulness.


Life is different now; I know I’m in the right place. It’s a feeling and it feels so right. My heart is singing. I haven’t woken up crying since.

Hi there, I’m Nikki Tiedeman, the founder of Slow Coaching Co. and I am here to help you. The course will enable you to feel fearless and wholly trust yourself as you design your dream life. With support and guidance from me, we will work together closely in partnership. As you create healthy habits and implement sustainable changes into your life, you will start to truly live in your personal power daily, achieve any goal you desire and create your dream life.

  • What exactly does a life coach do?

    As a coach, I help you work on particular areas of your life that you feel might need some lovin’. Together, we work in partnership to help you set some goals to achieve those things. This means that I provide a support system for you while you deep dive into doing the inner work. I hold space and guide you to explore and reveal the answers you seek through powerful questions and deep listening. To understand further the ways that I can help you check out what my clients say here.  It is important to note that as I coach, I am not here to give you the answers…’I know I’m sorry! But you’ll actually have to do the work.’ Coaching works on the principle that you already have the answers you seek.

  • What happens during a coaching session?

    Once your goals are defined, in each session you will set actions to complete between sessions. These actions will move you closer toward reaching and achieving your goals. In your session, we will discuss in detail the actions you made, as well as what learnings or experiences showed up for you in taking these actions. Together, we work through any emotions and feelings that may have surfaced for you.  Most importantly, we celebrate your wins, successes and progress. I hold a space for you that is safe to explore, to be open and vulnerable to unveil things for yourself that help you to ignite your personal power and move closer to your desired outcomes.  It is my duty, honour and privilege to hold you accountable to the actions you set, while also being your biggest form of support and cheerleader.

  • Will a coach give me the answers to my problems?

    The role of a coach is not to tell you what to do. As a coach, I work in partnership with you to uncover the answers you seek through powerful questioning, deep listening and permissible observations. I help you to explore, to dig below the surface and peel back the layers that may have been hiding the answer.

  • How long should I work with a coach?

    This is purely based on the type of goal you want to work on. We will align the timeframe that is necessary to your goal so that you can achieve it within the time spent working together.

  • What if I don't have a goal yet?

    This question is more common than you might think.  This is perfectly ok! If you know you need a change, but you can’t quite articulate what it is yet then that’s all the more reason to invest in a coach to help you.  My job as a coach is to help you get clear on your goals. I offer a free 45-minute obligation free discovery call which includes a deep enquiring questionnaire. This is designed to help you identify the areas in your life that you may want to work on. With my support, we work together to craft what your goals might be.

  • What are the time -frames of the coaching Slow Co. offers?

    I offer 3 options for coaching series lengths:

    • 6 coaching sessions (excluding your free discovery call) over 12 weeks or 3 months.
    • 12 coaching sessions (excluding your free discovery call) over 24 weeks or 6 months.
    • Self-care sessions are booked with a minimum of 2 sessions that are usually spaced 4 weeks apart.
  • What hours do you coach? Can I work with you after hours.?

    I am blessed to be a mum as well as a business owner. Maybe blessed is a loose term…?! This means I do work part-time currently on Monday's and Wednesday's until 31 Jan 2021, thereafter my working days will shift to Tuesdays through Thursdays. If you require coaching during ‘office hours’, then these are the days I would have available.  However, on request, I do consider after-hours sessions on Monday’s – Thursdays.

  • Is the free discovery session part of the coaching series?

    No, your discovery session is excluded from a coaching series. For example, if you sign up for the 6 session series with the discovery session you end up with 7 sessions in total.

  • How long should I work with a coach?

    This is purely based on the type of goal you want to work on. We ensure we align the timeframe that is necessary to your goal so that you can achieve your goal within the time spent working together.

  • What is the difference between a coach and a counsellor, therapist or psychologist?

    Usually, when working with a counselor, therapist, or psychologist, these professionals are assisting you to unpack and work through past issues or uncover root causes of behaviors or actions. ** Please note – this description is not exclusive. Please ensure to complete due diligence when seeking out the services of such professionals.  A coach helps you to be in action which creates forward momentum toward reaching your goals.  We focus on the present moment and future and do not delve into your past or spend time working through your past issues.

  • What about privacy?

    Respecting your privacy is of utmost importance.  Before we commence any form of coaching partnership, you will be sent a coaching contract which outlines all terms and conditions and policies around privacy. You will be asked to give a testimonial and google review after the time we spend working together. These reviews are extremely valuable to me in helping others understand more about the work I do in choosing whether to work with me, however, that being said leaving your feedback is optional and can be anonymous.
